School Food Drive 2016

We are holding our first annual School Food Drive Competition and hope that this will bring in much needed food and cash to Nourish, as well as raise hunger awareness in our local community.

From 29th February -11th March 2016, we are challenging schools to collect food for Nourish. Your school will compete against others in Tunbridge Wells and the local areas – we hope that the friendly competition will spur on schools to increase their efforts – to see who can collect the most food.

 Trophies will be awarded to the schools that collect the largest weight of food in the below categories.

  • Primary Schools
  • Secondary Schools

Any in-date food from our shopping list counts towards the total weight.

All schools taking part will receive a certificate with the total raised on so even individual classes can take part in the competition and receive a certificate for their wall!

What will you get?

The winning school in each category will receive the Nourish School Food Drive trophy and recognition on our website.

Every other school participating will get recognition of their food collection on our website and the great feeling that they are helping people in crisis in their local community!

 How to Enter

If you would like to get involved in our school food drive competition in 2016 and help out your local community then please send an email to  paul.haines@nourishcommunityfoodbank.org.uk to register your interest and we will be in touch to organise a food collection pack for your school.

We can provide your school with a food collection pack which includes posters, leaflets and a collection box. We can also supply a donation pod should you wish to collect cash alongside the food collection. The rest is up to you! Get as creative as you like and don’t forget to send us loads of photos for our website.

Food will be collected by our volunteers during the week of 14th – 18th March 2016 or can be dropped at our unit at Big Yellow with prior arrangement to be weighed in. If your school holidays start before this week then please let us know and we can collect before this date.

Some Ideas Of Ways to Get Creative:

  • Utilize Nourish FoodBank's colorful food drive posters. Place both boxes and posters in high traffic areas.
  • Offer donation shopping bags to pupils to take home and return full of non-perishable items.
  • Create a competition. The pupil donating the most food has pictures taken posing at the desk of the headmaster / headmistress. A great photo to place on  social media, email blasts, and newsletters
  • Present prizes (gift cards, gift baskets, certificates, etc.) to the pupil for the most donated food. This creates competition and team-building experience.

Don't Forget

Please take loads of photos and videos of your fundraising and we will use them on our website.

Download an easily printed poster for your school here in pdf format. We will deliver copies of the colour poster to schools that sign up when we deliver the collection packs.

Nourish School Food Drive 2016

Huge thanks to all the schools who took part in our 2016 School Food Drive.

The winners of the primary category were Claremont Primary School with a fantastic 289.40Kg of donations. Thanks to Claremont School PTA for organising.

The senior school winners were Bethany School with a brilliant 238.40Kg of donations. Huge thanks to Alistair for kicking the collection off at Bethany.

A brilliant competition and we collected a total of 844.60Kgs.
