7th September 2019 9am-5pm

Bewl Water, Bewlbridge Ln, Lamberhurst, Ticehurst, Tunbridge Wells TN3 8JH

This is your opportunity to join 'The Nourishers' and be part of this fantastic event

Crews of 16 paddlers (plus a drummer) race in Chinese-style Dragon Boats over a 250-metre course. Crews do not need to be super fit or skilled to be successful - all that's required is teamwork and a good sense of fun!

We are currently looking for rowers for this years event and would love for you to join us on the water for our 6th year of racing. In 2018 we raised a fantastic £2,902.25 and we want to smash this record this year.

Each team has three heats and the fastest 12 boats go through to the final. If you sign up to row for Nourish, you will row in a minimum of two races and potentially all three depending on numbers. This is a full day event and you need to be on site before 9am until around 4pm.

Each rower is asked to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship and this can be done offline using our sponsorship form or by using one of our online portals where it is easy to also claim gift aid.

To book your place in the Nourish boat you will need to pay a £15 non-refundable entry fee which helps us recoup the cost of entry to the festival of £360.

Please contact Paul by email at paul.haines@nourishcommunityfoodbank.org.uk if you wish to take part. Please note places are limited.

How many races will my team get?

You get three races during the day, and then if you qualify for the final, you get one more race. There is a gap of about 1.5 hours between each of your races

How does the racing work?

Essentially the races are time trials over 250 metres. Each race you are in will be timed, and your best time over the three races will be used to determine whether you go into the final. The 10 fastest times go into the final.

Do I need any previous experience?

No. At least half of the teams competing will have never been in a dragon boat before.

What is the minimum age to take part?

You must be at least 16 years old to take part in the boat.

Do I need to be able to swim?

NNo. Everyone wears a life jacket when they go out on the water, and safety is taken very seriously. It is very unusual for a boat to tip over and there is always a safety boat alongside.

Will I get wet?

Yes! you are extremely likely to get wet from the other paddlers in your boat splashing you, so please bring a change of clothes!

What time will I need to be at Bewl Water?

Registration opens at 8 am and the teams that register first go out on the water first. All teams must be registered by 9:30am. We ask you to be at the Nourish pitch before 9am. Racing will continue until approximately 4:30 pm
